The small port of Galéria is also the starting point for sea excursions to the peninsula of Scandola and the Gulf of Girolata. The village of Girolata has a unique feature: it is only accessible by sea from Galéria and Porto, or by a mule track! Otherwise two hiking trails give access to it by the Palmarella pass

From Galéria, go back on the road D81 that in the next 10 kilometers rises from the sea level to 408 meters into the Col de Palmarella: where you can enjoy a unique viewpoint on the peninsula of Scandola. A little further, after another series of sharp turns, the pass “de la croix” gives a panoramic vieuw on the Gulf of Girolata. And it is always turning and turning that you finally reach Porto. The port of Porto is at the end of a vast valley that starts at the Vergio pass. This pass begins at 1477 meters above sea level, but is only 15 km away from the sea. Imagine the slope! From your apartment rental in Corsica, take direction to Porto. In Porto, do not follow the direct route to the Vergio pass by Evisa (the D84), but the narrow D124, on the right bank of the river. You will pass through the picturesque village of Ota that the summit of Capu d'Ortu seems to threaten its 1294 meters above sea level. Upstream of Ota, after having passed two successive bridges over the torrents, park: a path gives access to the superb Genoese bridge of Vecchiu. From here you can make a round trip on the path along the gorges of Spelunca: it takes an hour to reach the bridge of Zaglia.
